China Moon Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into China Moon Restaurant on Union Boulevard feels like entering a familiar neighborhood nook where the hum of everyday life blends seamlessly with the savory aromas of a beloved kitchen. This is not a place to rush through but rather one that invites you to settle into its warm, unpretentious rhythm — a casual spot where regulars and newcomers alike are drawn by the comfort of dependable flavors and a steady, welcoming pace.
The atmosphere at China Moon is quietly alive, marked by the soft clatter of dishes and the easy exchange between the staff and familiar faces. It’s the kind of local Chinese restaurant that has quietly nurtured community ties over the years, where the front desk often knows your usual order before you say a word. Whether you’re picking up a meal or enjoying it in-house, there’s a sense of continuity here, shaped by people who return time and again for that specific balance of hearty, genuine dishes that feel like they’ve been made just for you.
On any given visit, there’s comfort in the familiar: the rich tang of General Tso’s Chicken, the satisfying blend of textures in the combination platters, and the lighter, steamed options that offer a gentler take on traditional favorites. The menu reflects a steady hand, attentive to classic flavors and homey touches, rather than fleeting trends. For many, China Moon becomes a quiet refuge for cravings, a spot where the food’s warmth mirrors the human moments shared across tables and at the counter.
While the pace is easy and the service familiar, the reputation is built largely on the consistency that keeps people coming back — from long-time devotees who visit from miles away to those who appreciate the friendly nods and conversations that come with recurring visits. It’s a place that feels rooted in its community, imperfect but enduring, with a kitchen that continues striving to serve honest, flavorful meals that speak to a collective sense of home.

Foods great new York style greasy and flavorful! Service is decent but we will update the review depending on service today. If no update then it didn’t disappoint like usual

This was a good Place for Chinese food. Recently it has gone down hill. Most Recently we got food. The grease was sickening. I bit into an egg roll and the grease ran down my hand. The fried wontons were the same. We could not eat them either. I got violently sick on the food. I don't know what happened, but I need to find another place to get my Chinese food.

I’ve been going here for YEARS, literally since I was 13 and I’m 25 now and this has been my favorite place to get chinese food. Truly the best, the woman at the front desk always knows our order. Love going here

I have been on many travels and adventures to find the greatest chicken and broccoli for Chinese takeout in the area. China Moon #1. Order combo chicken & broc with garlic sauce and white rice with a shrimp eggroll. Their sauce is the perfect balance between sweet, savory, and mildly spicy. Their broc consistency is crunchy and using white rice will balance the sauce out better vs fried. Their shrimp roll has the right crunch and the meal is less oily and spicy compared to other places. The price is right and the service is quick. Thank you ladies of China Moon and kudos to the chefs that make fast food fast.
